The #1 Secret For Building Website Traffic

The number one question among webmasters is "How can I increase the
number of visitors to my website?". There are several ways, but
adding content to your site is the most effect method there is. This
article explains why and how to do it.

Like all webmasters, the reason you created your website in the first
place is so that people (visitors) can see what you have to offer.
Maybe you simply wish to share your thoughts and opinions on a
weblog. Perhaps you want to use your website as a "billboard" for
your brick-and-mortar business. Or maybe you want to sell tons of
widgets and make a living on the Internet.

Whatever your motivation for building your site, you won't achieve
your goals without building a steady flow of traffic to it! There is
one "best" thing you can do that will help you increase the flow of
visitors to your site (and keep them coming back time and again): Add
new content on a regular basis.

How does adding new content help build traffic? Here are three ways:

1 - More content helps boost your search engine rankings, and higher
search engine rankings mean more visitors will "find" your website
when they search for what you're offering. In general, larger sites
fare better in the search engines than smaller sites, for various
reasons.

2 - More content (meaning more pages) provides more "roads" into your
site from the search engines. Having hundreds or thousands of pages
means there are hundreds or thousands of varied search terms that
your site will come up for in the search results. This means instead
of your site being "found" when just two or three relevant searches
are made, it will be found under hundreds or thousands of search
terms!

3 - Fresh content will keep your current visitors coming back to your
site to see "what's new". Any business owner will tell you it's
cheaper to keep a customer you already have than it is to acquire a
new one. The same principle applies on the web.

Adding fresh content on a regular basis is the true secret to
expanding your traffic levels. You'll receive more and more new
visitors all the time, and they'll keep coming back!

So how do you go about adding new content? First of all, set a goal
of adding at least two new articles to your website each and every
day. Two articles per day isn't much really, but it adds up to 730
new pages per year. That's at least 730 new "roads" into your site
from the search engines!

So where do I get the content to add to my site? The best place to
find new content is inside your head - write articles about a topic
that's related to the overall theme of your site. Spend a few minutes
a day doing some research on the web. Remember, Google is your
friend. Just be sure you don't plagiarize (copy) someone else's work.
Not only is it unethical, it's quite dangerous for the long-term
survival and success of your website!

The process is really quite simple: Research, read, and learn. Then
write an article of your own explaining what you have learned. That's
it! You don't have to be a great writer who produces polished novels,
you simply have to be able to get your points across.

If you simply cannot write (or have no desire to try), there are
thousands of high-quality articles available on the web on virtually
ANY topic that are free for the taking. All that's usually required
is a link back to the author's site in a short "bio" section at the
end of the article.

There are many websites on the Internet that offer tons of hese "free
content" articles. Just do a Google search for "free content".

The Ten Commandments of Online Marketing

Thou Shalt Not Pursue A Free Lunch:
Chances are, you will not get rich quick. Deal with it. Don't waste your time convincing yourself or listening to others who tell you differently. Hard work and perseverance will not fail you .

2. Thy Products Must Solve A Prospect's Problem:
We humans are greedy creatures most times. We want comfort, ease, peace of mind, and a plethora of other self indulgencies. Put yourself in the customer's shoes and ask "What's in it for me?". If your ads or products do not clearly spell this out, and tell the customer how you will give him what he desires, most times you will not make the sale.

3. Thou Shalt Educate Thyself:
Read, Read, Read. Observe other successful people in your field. What are they doing? Read some more.

4. Thou Shalt Budget For Advertising:
Free advertising is an oxymoron. The only people reading free ads are the ones who are placing them there, and all they're looking for is their own ad, not yours. Instead, learn all you can about your target audience, and find them. Whether it is through pay-per-click advertising using highly targeted keywords, eZine ads, banners on related sites, etc. Don't go after the general public. Go after people who are looking for your type of product or service. Allow a certain monthly expense for advertising and stick to it.

5. Thou Shalt Track Thyne Advertising:
You made a sale! Congrats! How did the customer find you? If you have 10 different ads on 10 different sites, how on earth will you know which one(s) are working? View your server logs to see where the users came from. Create unique URLs to use in each ad. For example: http://www.yourdomain.com?ad1 http://www.yourdomain.com?ad2 etc. Just add the ? and ad number to the end of the URL you post along with each ad. Change the number for each one & for goodness sake, write them down somewhere! StatCounter.com offers a great free service that will assist you in tracking your visitors.

6. Thou Shalt Tweak:
Familiarize yourself with the term "split-run". A split run is where you take 2 ads and send them out simultaneously and measure the results to see which ad pulled more clicks and sales. You take the better of the 2 ads and create another one. Run a split-test again with your best ad & your new ad. The winner moves on to the next round. Repeat this process often.

7. Honor Thy Mailing List:
Your current and previous customers are an incredible source of revenue for you. It's a shame that many online business owners neglect this each and every day. Stay in touch with your prospects by sending an email or printed newsletter or flyer. Offer them special discounts and loyalty bonuses. If you forget them, they will surely forget you.

8. Thou Shalt Not Be Hindered By Failure:
You will fail. Period. Dust yourself off & get back on the horse. It is part of your education. Learn from it and move forward.

9. Thou Shalt Duplicate What Works:
Commandment number six goes hand-in-hand with this one. The wonderful thing about doing business online is the ease at which you can scale-up your operation. If you find something that works, do it again, and again. Reach a larger audience. If you've found a successful niche as an affiliate with a mini-site, set up 25 more sites.

10. Thou Shalt Reward Thyself: You need some time away from the computer. Go outside. Go shopping. Visit friends. Buy yourself a new toy. Read something non-technical, fiction maybe. You've earned the right to treat yourself. Make it a habit or it will become a resentment.

Copywriting - Get The Effect!

Stephen King, Radio Plays and Online Marketing By Douglas Titchmarsh

What do these 3 things have in common?
It might seem a bit of a jump right now, but there is a link between the writer Stephen King, Radio plays of the fifties and internet marketing....
Words
Let me start from the beginning, I was reading "Danse Macabre" by Stephen King, a book in which he gives his take on horror fiction.
In one section he is writing about the radio plays of the early 1950's, and how they gripped the listener by not giving you all the details.

The plays would have a background sound of a plane and the voice actors would set the scene they were in. The listener would build his own image of the plane and the problems the actors had, building his own sense of fear, and place himself there, that made it all the more scary, and built the drama for the listener.
The main thing was, as radio is an aural only medium, the listener filled in the visual side for his or herself. The result was that they got a great thrill ride, just from words and sounds.

So that's Stephen King linked to the radio plays, so how do we get to internet marketing?

As I was reading about how successful the plays were on radio, because of the listeners imagination filling in the detail, I realised how we are trying to do the same as online marketers.
When we try to sell a product, we are using words to try to entice the website viewer into our little world, just like the radio plays did.
We have to get the potential customer on our website to fill in the blanks, and visualise how our product will help him.

In the same way the best radio plays left out the complete description of what was happening and the listener filled in the blanks, we need to leave out some details, and let the viewer fill his own mind with the picture of how his problem will look from his particular perspective and how he'll feel when it's solved by our product.

Our sales pages need to draw the customer inside our world, but fill in the blanks from his own one. We need to pique his imagination just like those radio plays, and just like Stephen King does in his books, the most scary of which are the ones where the reader is left to make the monster real.
In our case that monster is the perceived problem, and the hero, is you coming in the nick of time to fell the monster and save the day with your world beating product.

Who The Heck Is The Rich Jerk And Why Is He So Obnoxious??

When I first saw the ad for "The Rich Jerk" I have to admit, I was taken completely aback. This guy is rude, obnoxious, smart mouthed, cocky, and just downright insulting.
My initial response was: WHAT A JERK!
Then a friend, whose opinion I trust completely, told me he ordered the Rich Jerk's materials and was amazed at the quality of the content, the sound advice, and the strategies for making big profits online.
He said he learned things that he didn't even know about online marketing, and he's been doing this for years.
His recommendation is that anyone who is interested in selling online should just get past all the hype and hoopla in the ad and just read this book, it's that good.
I broke down and ordered the book for myself and I have to admit, there's some good stuff in here that anyone can use to start or improve their online marketing efforts.
You may find the ad offensive, but as my friend put it:
"I can now see why he's a Rich Jerk, instead of a poor one..."
Can't argue with that logic, I suppose.
If you're interested in selling online and can get past 10 tons of attitude, check it out for yourself at this link. The Rich Jerk

Maintain Your Website and Make Money

Maintaining a website can be very labor intensive. However the software that is available at very reasonable cost can automate so much of the hassle and work.
I recently bought a software package that contained everything to make my life as a website owner easier. Pre designed web templates, autoresponder software, web promotion software, traffic boosting software, pop-up ad creator, banner creator, ezine format software and so the list goes on. I now have over 50 software programs that make my life so much easier. It was a great deal!!
However , although I would have purchased them anyway, I have an added benefit. An opportunity to make money from buying all the rights to resell this software at whatever price I choose. So as well as having the value of the software itself, I have the additional opportunity to create a business reselling it. It could be sold on a website, or even on eBay
This is an awesome business opportunity for anyone and is great value for themoney that the software costs. Right now I'm offering it at 70% off so check it out http://www.profitmakingwebtools.com
